Using the website

This website is run by the University of Westminster. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, which means that you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (most well-known screen readers)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Accessibility of the website

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible and have listed the issues according to level of impact, from high to low:

Higher priority issues

  • Some controls cannot be accessed via keyboard
  • Some form controls are unlabelled which may make their purpose and operation unclear
  • The website does not support browser text resize
  • Text has insufficient contrast with the page background which may make content difficult to perceive for some people
  • The site does not appropriately reflow content at larger zoom sizes. This may make it difficult for people using smaller screens or magnification software to view the content

Lower priority issues

  • The heading structure is illogical on some pages and some headings are not semantically marked up. The hierarchy of the page may be unclear to people using assistive technology
  • Some user interface elements have insufficient contrast with adjacent colours which may make their identification and operation unclear for some users
  • Some links rely on colour alone which may make them difficult to distinguish from body text for some people
  • There are no bypass blocks on the site which requires additional navigation for keyboard users
