About the project
Participedia is an open global knowledge community for researchers and practitioners in the field of democratic innovation and public engagement.
SSHRC initially funded the project under a Partnership Development Grant for two years from April 2011 to make possible the development of this beta version of Participedia. More recently, Mark Warren has been awarded a 5 year Partnership Grant to expand the work of Participedia, involving 25 universities across the world.
In 2012, The Bertelsmann Foundation provided generous support for development of multi-language functionality, initially through a German-language interface.
Funding under the ESRC Connected Communities programme will increase the coverage of UK cases and provide insights on the effectiveness of using open-source data collection platforms.
