Fundamental to the ethos of the Centre for the Study of Democracy is research that aims to provide support and build the capacity of those who are marginalised and excluded from society and from political power. Engagement with activists, practitioners, policy makers and the public is central to our culture. We believe this stimulates research and engenders broader social and political impact.
Our success in realising impact is acknowledged in the 2021 Research Evaluation Framework, where the majority of impact activities across criminology, international relations, politics and sociology are recognised as “world leading”. The impact work of colleagues in politics and international relations is scored fourth highest in the country.
Below you can find examples of this world leading impact work.
