How Renata Drumond partnered with WWC UK to inspire students

Renata Drumond Interior Design is a Cambridge-based studio that offers bespoke architectural and interior design solutions for residential and commercial projects. Renata Drumond, the founder and director, is an alumna of the University of Westminster, where she graduated with a BA Honours in Interior Design in 2010.

In June 2024, Renata participated as a speaker in the Westminster Working Cultures (WWC) UK programme, an initiative that aims to enhance the employment prospects and global outlook of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The programme featured 15 speaker sessions from Westminster alumni and partners across five days and included a day trip to Cambridge.

Renata was one of the speakers who shared their career journeys, challenges and successes with the 38 participants of the programme. She spoke about her transition from Brazil to the UK and her experience as an interior designer as well as the importance of soft skills such as flexibility, clear communication and the opportunities that come from embracing different cultures. Renata also gave practical advice on how to build a portfolio, network with clients and suppliers, manage projects and budgets and overcome challenges whilst starting her own business.

Renata was delighted to be involved in the WWC UK programme and appreciated the opportunity to connect with Westminster students and share her experience.

WWC UK is part of a wider programme of activity, including WWC International, that aims to support Westminster students' professional skills development and global outlook. WWC UK has hosted 15 programmes and numerous events since its launch in 2020, featuring a range of successful alumni and partner organisations with over 500 Westminster students and recent graduates participating. Upcoming WWC activities will take place in September 2024.
