DWP and University of Westminster job fair success

The University of Westminster works with organisations, such as government departments, NGOs, businesses and charities, to promote employability and social mobility for its graduates and communities.

One example of such collaboration is the job fair that the University hosted with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 17 July 2024 at our Marylebone campus. The aim of the event was to help students and local residents network with employers hiring for roles across a wide range of industries.

The job fair attracted 19 employers, including Right at Home, the skills-based hiring platform CLU and Westminster Adult Education Centre. The employers set up stalls at the University's Marylebone Campus, where they met with 325 attendees, comprising of 284 applicants and 41 University students. The attendees had the opportunity to learn about the employers, their vacancies and their application processes, as well as to showcase their skills, experience and motivation.

The event resulted in over 110 job offers and the feedback from both the employers and the attendees was positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the organisation, the diversity and the quality of the event.

Linsey Cole, Director of Business Engagement at the University, said: "We are delighted to host this job fair in collaboration with the DWP, as it demonstrates our commitment to our local community and providing opportunities for both our students and residents. These events not only help bridge the gap between the community and employers but promote a culture of partnership that aligns with our values as a University."
