Science and technology are at the core of many of the transformations that are taking place today. There has been an acceleration of scientific advances and these have stimulated wider regulatory questions on criminal and civil liability. The legal profession and legal education have also seen a growth of different legal support systems that are beginning to affect what it means to be a lawyer today. The Centre is involved in interdisciplinary research looking at the wider influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and other technological systems across a spectrum of different spheres, working closely with other Faculties at the University and leading AI and Law experts.
