Spanish and Latin American studies at Westminster covers a range of research interests and specialisms including literature, film and documentary studies, art and visual culture and museum studies.
We invite doctoral research proposals in the field of Spanish and Latin American studies with a focus on the 20th and 21st centuries. We particularly welcome proposals that fit within (or interface with) our core research areas, including:
- Spanish and Latin American screen studies including national and transnational themes, gender, sexuality, race, identity and nationalism
- Latin American literary studies focusing on violence, crime narratives, gender, sexuality, race, poetry, boom literature, concepts of the canon, and identity and the nation more broadly
- Museum cultures in Spain and Latin America to include ethics, gender, identity, history, memory and trauma
- Art and visual culture from Spain and Latin America with a focus on identity, gender and the nation
- Country or area specialisms focusing on Mexico, Central America, Cuba, Colombia or the Southern Cone.
