All applications are assessed on an individual basis and in some cases, the University may require you to meet higher entry requirements than the minimums outlined below.
Applicants should normally have a minimum classification of an upper second class honours degree (2:1) or equivalent and preferably a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending). All applicants must meet the university's English Language requirements.
English Language Requirements
Below are the standard English requirements but some research areas may have a higher English Language requirement. Please note that the university accepts a wide range of different English language tests in addition to IELTS. - Applicants to the Westminster Law School are expected to have passed their LLM or MA with merit or distinction with 65% or above in their dissertation and to achieve a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component
- Applicants to programmes in English literature or English language in the School of Humanities are expected to achieve a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 (minimum 6.5 in each component)
- Applicants with offers conditional on English language can also apply for University of Westminster’s Pre-sessional English courses before progressing to your research degree.
