About the centre
Social mobility into elite professions is a key item on the UK government’s agenda and we hope that our research will make a significant difference in this crucial area. Social mobility can be defined as the ability of individuals to move up or down the socioeconomic ladder, with education playing a key role in facilitating that movement.
As such, the primary purpose of the Social Mobility in Accounting and Finance (SMAF) research group is to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary research in social mobility and education research in Accounting and Finance, as well as to enhance the skills and capabilities of its members by organising and promoting researcher development.
