Westminster Engage FAQs

Registering and advertising your opportunity on Westminster Engage is free of charge.

All currently enrolled University of Westminster students are registered with Westminster Engage and are able to browse any information on the website and can continue to do so three years after graduation. This means over 20,000 Westminster students and graduates, with a wide range of skills and experience, will be able to view your vacancies.

Employer registrations are open to anyone looking to employ a student or graduate. Please note however we are only able to promote opportunities that meet our Terms of Service.

You can register for Westminster Engage by registering directly on the site. All registrations are approved by a member of our team.

Each contact at your organisation will have a separate username and password. You can add and delete contacts on Westminster Engage and manage them within the system.

If you are not sure if you have already registered, click on ‘Organisation sign in’ and then select ’Forgotten your password?’. Enter the email you would have registered with to reset your details. If you do not receive a password re-set email within an hour in your standard or junk email inbox, please register as a new user or email for support.

After you have registered as an employer, you can advertise a job by selecting the appropriate fields in the system. One of our team will then approve your opportunity. Once live, your advert will be visible to over 20,000 current students and recent graduates.

To edit details of your opportunity, please log in to your Engage account and edit the posting. This will then be submitted to the careers team for re-approval.

After you have logged on to Engage, you can edit your profile by clicking on your profile icon in the upper right corner at the top of the page. Make sure you save your changes to finish updating your profile.

As an employer, it is your duty to ensure all statutory legal requirements within the country of employment are met prior to advertising your opportunity. In particular, in the UK you need to be aware of the following regulations:

  • National Minimum Wage Act (1998)
  • The Equality Act (2010)
  • Children’s Act (2004) and Working Time Regulations (1998) concerning safe working hours for all employees
  • Payment of tax or organisation of tax exemption arrangements, National Insurance contributions, or submission of Declaration of Income forms (P38) as necessary, to HM
  • Revenue and Customs (Inland Revenue)
  • Full occupational Health and Safety regulation including adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969
  • Data Protection Act 2018

The University of Westminster is committed to social mobility and ensuring that all our students have equal and fair access to opportunities. For this reason in particular we are not able to advertise opportunities that:

  • Do not meet the National Minimum Wage unless they are short-term and are part of a course offered by the University of Westminster, or are volunteering a UK registered charity

  • Pay on a commission-only basis, with no guarantee that the National Minimum Wage will be met.
