The University of Westminster takes its data protection responsibilities very seriously. Information provided on your External Examiner or External Adviser nomination form will only be shared with internal colleagues related to your service to the University in those roles and will be only used to contact you on these topics.

Your personal data

Your contact details could be shared with teams dealing with:

  • Your appointment and payment as an External Examiner or External Adviser   
  • Your work as an External Examiner or External Adviser
  • Right to Work Checks 

For External Examiners, your name and your employer will be shared with students in Course Handbooks. 

Legal basis of processing

By giving us your contact details, you are opting in to be contacted by us and receive information about those or similar topics here at the University of Westminster. We will not use your personal information for any other purpose. We will retain this information only for as long as these purposes remain valid. We may aggregate and anonymise data for wider internal management reporting. We will not share your information with any other organisation.

Right to work checks

To enable us to confirm that you have the right to work in the UK, the University will need to carry out a right to work check before you start work. For UK and Irish passport holders the University has contracted TrustID to carry out digital checks. We will use the email address you have provided on the nomination form to send you a link within the TrustID platform. TrustIDs privacy notice can be found at the TrustIDs webpage
