Westminster alumni inspire current students at What Comes Next? events

The University of Westminster welcomed alumni to share their career insights with second-year Westminster Business School students for two consecutive What Comes Next? events, as part of their Leadership and Development module.

The events took place on 27 and 28 November at Westminster’s Marylebone Campus. Over both days, almost 170 students attended to listen to a diverse panel of recent graduates from different Business and Management courses to share their insights about future career options. The events gave students the opportunity to hear about different career journeys, learn about other employability programmes such as Westminster Working Cultures, Future Ready Mentoring and Westminster Enterprise Network, and make connections with successful recent graduates.

On the first day, the panel included Aram Tufan, Business Management BA Honours graduate and founder of Happy Student, Evelyn Namutebi, Finance and Business Management BA Honours alumna and Founder of Sure Consultancy & Accounting Services Ltd, and Mohammed Mijan Uz-Zaman, Business Management (Digital Business) BA Honours graduate and Digital Performance Executive at Four Agency Worldwide. On the second day, both Aram and Evelyn returned and were joined by two more Business Management BA Honours alumni, Diana Amarinei, working in Digital Marketing at Makeke LTD, and Canmert Temiz, Junior Data and Analytics Developer at Jisc.

The events were organised by the Alumni Relations team, Evgeniya Macleod, Director of Teaching, Learning and Quality, and Dr Setenay Dilek Fidler, Deputy Course Leader of Business Management BA Honours. Mina Mohit, Management and Leadership Visiting Lecturer, chaired the panel and hosted the events which were part of the Leadership and Development module for Business Management students.

Coming away from the each event, students learned how to make a LinkedIn account, be flexible in their career by trying out multiple ideas and widen their search for job opportunities by applying through a variety of routes.

Senior Alumni Officer Haydn Worley commented: “It was great to see so many engaged Business Management students in attendance, with lots of great questions put to the alumni speakers after the main discussion. Our graduate panellists were all fantastic, sharing lots of valuable insight and advice to help students – from courses they studied themselves not so long ago – along their career and employability journeys.”
