Westminster partners with Impactpool to enhance student access to global careers

The University of Westminster has teamed up with Impactpool, a global career platform providing targeted support to those interested in international careers. Through this collaboration, Westminster students can access Impactpool Fellowships, which provide tailored employment opportunities and support services to help them navigate the sector.

Impactpool is the largest global platform providing targeted support to those interested in careers in international organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). They collaborate closely with all major global institutions, including all United Nations organisations, international development agencies and NGOs, to match applicants’ profiles with relevant job opportunities in the sector.

The Impactpool Fellowship provides students with an overview of potential entry points and employment opportunities while offering them valuable seminars and workshops with employers to help navigate international careers and prepare for interviews. They also receive a combination of recruitment advice and intelligent system features that help candidates stand out in the recruitment process and make their job search more manageable and effective.

Monica Deshpande, Head of Employability and Graduate Success at the University of Westminster, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Impactpool, the leading global platform connecting talent with impactful careers in international organisations and NGOs. We look forward to this exciting collaboration that will equip our students with the knowledge, resources and the access to opportunities that will help them differentiate themselves in the competitive sector of international careers.”

This initiative was developed by Dr Sahar Taghdisi Rad, the Employability Director for the School of Social Sciences, who has been leading several international and UN-related collaborations. She said: “In recent years our students have shown growing interest in international careers, demonstrated in a significant rise in applications for our UN internships scheme and similar initiatives. As such, by partnering with platforms such as Impactpool we hope to offer even more support to our students and enhance their confidence as they explore the international career scene. Careers at international organisations, from internships to consultancies and colleague positions, can significantly enhance students’ and graduates’ long-term career prospects.”

She added: “The job opportunities within organisations in the sector, many of which are in the field of international development and peace-building, align with the UN SDGs that the University is strongly committed to. However, the high demand for employment in the sector makes entry highly competitive. As such, platforms such as Impactpool provide much-needed support to graduates to help them navigate the sector and develop a strategy to align themselves most effectively across the available opportunities.”

About the partnership Henrik Rydén, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Impactpool, added: "We are thrilled to partner with the University of Westminster and ignite the passion of your top students for careers that create positive global change. Impactpool, Where Talent Meets Impact, will actively connect students with these opportunities through tailored job alerts, dynamic career events, engaging webinars, accessible on-demand resources, informative ebooks, insightful articles and compelling podcasts."

The partnership contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education, 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, 10: Reduced Inequalities, 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and 17: Partnerships for Goals. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
