Clearing is the system that helps students without a place at university find courses which still have places available.
You might need to use Clearing if:
- you didn't manage to secure a firm or insurance place
- you've changed your mind about where you want to go
- you aren’t holding any offers when you get your results
- you’ve started the university application process later than 30 June
From June, we publish the details of any course vacancies on our Clearing page, where you'll also find all the information you need to apply.
Applying through Clearing
Clearing opens in July and vacancies are published on our Clearing page. The full list is also on UCAS.
If you're applying on or after A-Level results day
You'll need to follow the specific instructions we publish at the time. They'll guide you through the process step by step. Check our Clearing page in the run-up to results day to find out what you need to do.
If you've started the university application process later than 30 June
Take a look at the Clearing section of our website to find out which of our courses still have places for the year ahead. Mark down the course codes and apply through UCAS as normal.
You can find out more on the UCAS website.
