The University of Westminster collaborated with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to host a job fair on 17 July at the Westminster Business School to help students and local residents network with employers hiring for roles.
The careers fair took place at Westminster's Marylebone Campus on 17 July. Employers from 19 companies across a wide variety of industries came to set up hiring stalls, some of which were Right at Home, the skills-based hiring platform CLU and the Westminster Adult Education Centre.
In total, 325 people attended the event, comprising of 284 applicants and 41 University students. There were 267 expected outcomes, 118 of which were job offers or follow-ups, 100 CLU follow-ups and 49 provisions.
Linsey Cole, Director of Business Engagement, said: "We are delighted to host this job fair in collaboration with the DWP, as it demonstrates our commitment to supporting our local community and providing opportunities for both our students and residents. These events not only help bridge the gap between the community and employers but support a culture of partnership that aligns with our values as a University."
This event directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and 17: Partnerships for Goals. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
