Saint Lucia and UK flags in the wind

The Chevening Scholarship is the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. Candidates come from over 110 countries worldwide, with over 42,000 Chevening alumni around the world creating an influential global network. The University of Westminster hosts on average around 30 Chevening recipients each year. The scheme is aimed at emerging global leaders and consists of two types of awards: Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships. The recipients are personally selected by British embassies and high commissions throughout the world.

Talking about the scholarship, Chelsa said: "Chevening really takes time to hand pick scholars whom they believe will be tomorrow's leaders. So for me, it's beyond a privilege to have been selected and to study at a University with such a prestigious Communications programme. I look forward to learning from top UK industry professionals and my fellow colleagues."

In a press release by Saint Lucia’s government, His Excellency Scott Furssedonn-Wood, the British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, said: “I am delighted that 14 more outstanding individuals from Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean have been awarded Chevening Scholarships this year. Chevening represents the very best of the UK and its vibrant international community. As we continue to tackle major global issues, international cooperation is now more essential than ever. We are proud of the strides that our Caribbean awardees continue to make as part of the global Chevening family.”

Lesley Saunderson, British Commissioner to Saint Lucia, said: “St Lucia has, yet again, produced outstanding candidates for the Chevening Scholarships. I have had the pleasure of meeting them in person.  It was inspiring to learn what is driving their personal development and their ideas for how they can contribute to positive change when they return from their studies in the UK.  We are extremely proud of Chevening scholars past and present, and that the fantastic alumni in St Lucia continues to grow.”

Applications for the Chevening Scholarships are now open for the 2023–24 academic year, with the application period closing on 1 November 2022.
