Students from the Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Mindset and Opportunities Creation module raised over £3,000 for a variety of charities as part of a business challenge in their module.
Seven groups of students competed to raise the most funds for their chosen charities through an array of events. The project was held in the Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Mindset and Opportunities Creation module, as part of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Enterprise Development MSc course.
The winning group were CREARE who raised £1,000 for Action Aid, a charity supporting victims of sexual and domestic abuse. The students in this group - Tatania Chavez, Bartosz Krzanowski, Uditnayan Mishra, Giorgia Zanetti and Sara Zein - held a series of online cookery sessions, cupcake sales and a pub quiz.
Other groups raised funds for charities including Chattertots, Solving Kids Centre, Action Aid, Dogs Trust, Young Minds, Save the Children and Centrepoint through activities including henna tattoos, football, raffles and awareness-raising.
The Entrepreneurial Mindset and Opportunities Creation module is delivered by Dr Spinder Dhaliwal and Dr Nattida Srisaracam. The students were fully engaged and used their entrepreneurial acumen to the best, applying their mindset and skills and learning through doing. Some fantastic amounts of money were raised in a short space of time."
Dr Peter Bonfield, University Vice-Chancellor and President, handed out the prizes and congratulated the students on doing such a fantastic job.
