Semester dates

The University of Westminster's academic year is divided into two semesters. Key dates are detailed below.

These approved dates are accurate at the time of publishing but can be subject to alteration. The dates of the programme follow those of the University’s academic year. If you choose to study with us in Semester 1 (Fall) and you need to return to re-commence your degree at your home school in January, our programme is designed to facilitate this.

Please note: Students studying in Semester 1 will only be given an alternative assessment in the case of a module with an in-person exam held during the university’s exam period. This means it should be possible to leave London before the start of the winter vacation, with only the requirement to complete any assessment that can be completed remotely remaining. For example, some coursework assessment deadlines may be set in January. If students need to leave London before these deadlines, it may be in their best interests to complete the assessment before they leave. Some online timed assessments may also be scheduled for January. These details are normally released on the day of the assessment with students given up to 24 hours to complete.

Please also note: Semester 1 contract dates for housing ends at the official end date of the semester. Any student selecting the option to live in University housing does so on the express understanding that they are liable for the full contracted period.
