This event is hosted by the Centre for Social Justice Research.
About the event
This three-day conference will bring together new and established scholars from different disciplines and perspectives to showcase current research on Alevis and Alevism. It will raise the profile of this field of study by creating an international community of Alevis(m) scholars.
Within the current global political climate, religion is a vital factor in defining national identities and dividing ethnic groups. The position of Alevis and Alevism is being redefined transnationally, both by the Alevis themselves and external agents such as religious bodies and nation-states. This conference will be held every two years to bring together new and established researchers and spotlight the emergent field of Alevism Studies.
