International internships (also referred to as traineeships or work placements) may be completed as part of a module or programme of study if your course allows, or independently when you're not timetabled at university.
You may be able to take part in an international internship for credit as part of your degree. To find out more, contact your Academic Exchange Coordinator.

Please note that the Student Mobility Team cannot help to directly organise overseas international internships.

Once you have secured an internship, if your placement is part of a module or your programme of study, please contact your relevant College Placement Officer who will advise you on the next steps. If your placement is independent of your studies, contact the Student Mobility Team who will advise you of the next steps.

Turing funding for international internships
If you plan to undertake an international internship/work placement/traineeship, you may be eligible for Turing funding to help support you during the placement.
- The minimum duration of a Turing funded placement is 28 days
- The maximum funding period is 12 months
- Funding for a traineeship is available to current undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students
- Funding is available for work placements that are both embedded and not embedded in the course
