The Westminster Alumni Volunteering Awards are a celebration of the contribution our volunteers and partners make to the Westminster community after they graduate.
By donating their time as speakers, mentors, hosts and ambassadors, our alumni and non-alumni volunteers support and inspire current students and recent graduates, giving them the insight, motivation and opportunities they need to succeed.
The winners are announced annually during Volunteers’ Week and on our alumni LinkedIn channel and the Alumni blog page. Nominations are received internally from University of Westminster staff members who work with volunteers.
Categories
The Awards include six categories, reflecting the breadth of volunteering opportunities at Westminster and the range of ways our alumni get involved.
The categories are:
- Alumni Speaker of the Year Award: For alumni who have delivered an outstanding presentation, lecture, workshop or panel discussion to students, colleagues or other alumni
- Exceptional Support of Students and Recent Graduates Award: For alumni who go above and beyond to provide professional development support to students and recent graduates, through either one-to-one or group sessions
- Going the Extra Mile Award: For alumni who have provided dedicated support across multiple initiatives or activities
Industry Volunteer Award: This award recognises an extraordinary external volunteer, who is not a Westminster graduate. This individual has provided exceptional support to students or recent graduates through activities such as mentoring, speaking at an event, or organising unique opportunities that significantly benefit students or recent graduates.
- Volunteer Partner Award: For non-alumni partners who, recognising the potential of Westminster students, generously offer specialist knowledge and insights to support their development
- Long Serving Volunteer Award: For the marathon alumni volunteers who have supported Westminster for at least three years, giving their time over and over again
