Alumni Card terms and conditions

All alumni are entitled to apply for a free Alumni Card providing access to the University buildings and campus libraries. To apply for your card, please register for Westminster Connect.

The Alumni Card terms and conditions outline the University’s expectations in relation to Alumni Card applications and usage.

Applications for Alumni Cards

Applications for an Alumni Card will be considered on a case-by-case basis and there is no automatic right to be issued with a card. Your application for an Alumni Card may be rejected for reasons such as, but not limited to:

  • The University is unable to verify your academic qualification and association with the University of Westminster.
  • There are outstanding fees on your student account.
  • You were excluded whilst at University on disciplinary grounds.
  • You are undergoing, or have undergone, a disciplinary procedure during or after University.

Once your Alumni Card has been issued, you are expected to adhere to the following expectations.

Expectations for Alumni Card usage

  1. In the interest of the safety and wellbeing of all members of the University, alumni must show their Alumni Cards whenever they are requested by a member of University staff.
  2. Alumni Cards must only be used by the issued card holder and cannot be passed on or used by other alumni, students or members of the public.
  3. Alumni Cards grant alumni general access to University campuses, including libraries (for reference purposes only). Alumni do not have access to IT facilities, teaching spaces or other specialist campus areas, such as computer labs.
  4. Alumni Cards are intended to support alumni who wish to occasionally work on campus or access the libraries to support their professional development. The campuses should not be used as a regular base for working or as a location to manage a business.
  5. Alumni are not permitted to stay overnight at any of the campuses.
  6. Personal belongings should not be stored on any of the campuses.
  7. Alumni should take responsibility for the safety of their personal property, keeping valuables with them at all times. Unattended property will be removed by staff and deposited at the reception desk for security reasons.
  8. University material, furniture and equipment must not be marked, changed or damaged in any way.
  9. Alumni who wish to bring guests onto campus must have approval from the Alumni Relations Office. Alumni may not bring babies or children (under 18) onto the University’s premises except by special arrangement with the Campus Services Manager.
  10. The University has a no smoking policy and in the interest of all, smoking is restricted to a small number of designated outside areas, which are clearly signed.
  11. Assistance dogs are the only animals that may be brought onto University premises.

If an alumnus/alumna is found to have breached the expectations of Alumni Card usage, the University may initiate an investigation under the Alumni Behaviour Policy. In the first instance, the University will seek to resolve any disputes informally and directly with the individual(s) involved.
