Audio Production MA – 2010

Studying at Westminster was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. The course I studied helped me to improve my skills both creatively and technically. Most importantly, I think it was the network I managed to develop and the ability to graduate with the practical skills needed in the industry. Had I not studied the course, I would have not known my career direction so clearly.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

When I finished my music technology undergraduate course, I wanted to continue my studies in the same field. At the time of researching different universities, I found the Audio Production MA at Westminster. It stood out to me because it had an excellent reputation for teaching practical skills on a professional level. It’s an intensive course packed with a lot of useful information. Students also have the option to complete it in a year or two years, which was one of the main reasons I chose to study it.

How has your experience been studying in London?

Studying in London was fantastic! My course was based in Harrow, Northwest of London, just a short train ride from central London. I was also able to use all the other facilities, including Marylebone and Regent Street campuses in central London.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I enjoyed the practical tasks. The course offered students up-to-date recordings and mixing studios and the latest version of audio equipment. I remember we used every opportunity to use the studio facilities to practice our skills during and between the classes.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

All the lectures in my course had professional experience and were very knowledgeable. Some lecturers were also working in the professional music or film industries at the time and were able to help students with both practical and academic support. As for academic support, students had additional academic support available, which helped a lot for writing a thesis or doing academic research.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The course provided an excellent quality of recording studios as well as live venues. All the facilities are industry-level and include some of the latest technology.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

As my course was music and film sound related, I often tried to go to different live venues, gigs, and audio workshops.
