One standout feature of my course's Spatial Planning pathway is the accessibility of the Urban Design Studio. This dynamic space allowed me to explore various design methods, experiment with ideas, and collaborate with like-minded peers who share my passion for urban planning and design.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

The University of Westminster stood out to me for three main reasons. Firstly, its impressive ranking and esteemed reputation. Secondly, I was drawn to a centrally located university that would grant me easy access to London's diverse cultural, professional, and recreational opportunities. Lastly, I was particularly impressed by the course structure, especially the RTPI-accredited Spatial Planning Pathway, which aligned perfectly with my interests and goals.

These factors reinforced my decision that the University of Westminster was the ideal choice for my master's degree. Additionally, the assistance and information provided during the application process, coupled with the responsiveness of the staff, made a significant impression on me, confirming my decision to study here.

How has your experience been studying in London?

My experience of studying in London has been a journey marked by both challenges and rewards. Transitioning from a completely different educational system and adjusting to the weather, language, and culture took some time. Moreover, navigating the fast-paced and demanding nature of full-time studies added another layer of complexity. Despite these obstacles, I have undergone significant personal and academic growth. I take pride in my progress, proving to myself the importance of focus and hard work.

The university's support services, welcoming environment, and diverse extracurricular activities enhanced my journey. Participating in site visits within London and nearby cities and a field trip to Europe, alongside my tutors and classmates created unforgettable memories and offered a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my master’s course. The lectures were engaging and provided valuable insights. The course structure, with lectures held two days a week, allowed ample time for research and coursework while offering flexibility for personal life and leisure activities. This balance between academic pursuits and leisure was ideal.

The assessment system, solely based on coursework and practical work, was a departure from the traditional exam-based methods I was accustomed to. However, I found it less stressful as it allowed for deeper exploration and a comprehensive understanding of the topics.

One of the program's highlights was the opportunity for site visits within the UK and a field trip to Europe. These experiences provided invaluable insights into architecture, urban planning, and design while facilitating connections with classmates and tutors.

In addition to regular lectures, guest lectures were particularly enriching. Speakers from urban design studios and companies shared their real-world projects and experiences, offering a glimpse into the industry and fostering valuable networking opportunities for the future.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

Throughout my studies, the academic support has been outstanding. The classroom atmosphere was consistently friendly, and the tutors were approachable and supportive. I always felt comfortable contacting them for assistance with coursework or questions during lectures. They proactively provided guidance and directed us to the right resources to achieve our goals.

Beyond classroom support, the tutors were also willing to advise on future career paths and choices. This guidance was instrumental in helping me navigate my options and ultimately choose a career path as an urban designer.
