Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I was confident in my decision to attend Westminster. I found great satisfaction in the diverse community of dedicated tutors and passionate lecturers, which further affirmed that I had made the right choice.

How has your experience been studying in London?

As a student with a strong passion for Architectural Technology, I chose the University of Westminster due to its incredible location in Central London, surrounded by inspiring buildings and restaurants just a short walk away. The university's ranking also played a significant role in my decision. Living in Surrey, studying in London presented initial challenges. However, based on my overall experience currently it is one of the most exciting places to study, particularly for someone with a keen interest in architecture.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I have found my tutors and lecturers to be incredibly supportive and constructive throughout my semesters. Their availability for assistance, even outside of class, has been invaluable. Studio work has been a highlight, as it allows us to unleash our creativity. Moreover, through my studio work and interactions in and out of the studio, I have developed my skills in various software applications like Revit and AutoCAD.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The extra online tutorials on Blackboard Virtual Office, conducted by my lecturers, have been invaluable and immensely beneficial. I use them to gather constructive feedback from experienced professionals, helping me pinpoint areas for improvement.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

I thoroughly enjoyed utilising the Fabrication Lab. The knowledgeable staff guided me through using software like Rhino 7 before laser cutting, and the spacious project space allowed me to build my models in my designated area. With my improved skills, I aspire to learn more about model-making and construction techniques that can be applied beyond the course.

Have you used the University Careers and Employability Service?

I have used the service to book an appointment regarding my CV and covering letter to send to Pick Everard in London for its Summer Placement, and the service was helpful.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course (e.g. course related trips, study abroad, sports clubs, societies and any competitions)?

From my first year at Westminster, I became a Course Rep, actively participating in various activities. I have been involved in organising the End of Year Exhibitions in June alongside other Course Reps. Additionally, I have assisted Course Ambassadors during University Open Days and participated in course-related trips to places like Rochester in Kent and Oxford. These experiences, from being a Course Rep to exhibitions, Open Days, and trips, have not only been enjoyable but have also equipped me with valuable skills.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice is to step out of your comfort zone, explore and discover more about yourself independently, and never hesitate to seek help, advice, or feedback when needed. My personal journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I highly recommend Westminster to anyone considering it.

Furthermore, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend making full use of the Fabrication Lab, with guidance from those who are familiar with its resources.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

I believe the best part of studying at Westminster is the accessibility to numerous restaurants just around the corner. Moreover, the university community is incredibly friendly, open, and supportive, regardless of age, gender, or race, making it a truly welcoming and nurturing environment for all.
