The assessments were interactive and collaborative and helped to prepare us for working in Communications; for example, we had to put together a PR pitch for a client and develop a corporate communications strategy, which was both exciting and helpful for working life after graduation.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
I always wanted to pursue my postgraduate education in London. While there are numerous world-class universities in London, I was drawn to the University of Westminster because it is very highly ranked in my field of study - Media and Communication. University of Westminster's various campuses are well located in the heart of London. Additionally, my course looked interesting and aligned well with my future career plans after graduation.
How has your experience been studying in London?
London is one of the world's great global cities and a fantastic place to study. Outside of the classroom, there's just so much to see and do. For me, doing postgraduate study in London felt like a precursor to working life in London, especially since my Master's was closely aligned with my career post-graduation.
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
My course was interactive and hands-on, emphasising the development of practical skills over theoretical knowledge. Collaboration and teamwork were at the heart of many modules, making it very enjoyable. During my postgraduate studies at Westminster, there was a significant international student base, which meant meeting people from all over the world.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
I was lucky to have a fantastic team of lecturers and, of course, a brilliant course leader.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
While I only had a few lectures there, the Regent Street campus stands out for its location right in the heart of the action in the West End. Most of my lectures were at the Cavendish campus, which is also well-located in the centre of London.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
I would do as much research on your course as possible and go to any Open Days to explore the various campuses.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
The location of the University in the heart of a global city like London - and the numerous career and networking opportunities that this presents - was the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student.
What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
The extent to which the assessments were interactive and collaborative - instead of the typical essays and exams - was refreshing. It also helped to prepare us for working in communications; for example, we had assessments where we put together a PR pitch for a client and developed a corporate communications strategy, which was both exciting and helpful for working life after graduation.
