Audio Production MA – 2019

I was able to film, edit, direct, and produce a documentary as part of my final project, which went on to win multiple small film festival awards. 

Why did you choose the University of Westminster? 

I relocated to London to pursue a career in the creative industries and study at the University of Westminster. The Audio Production MA provided practical skills that would help me secure a job in my desired field. It also offered access to facilities that were otherwise unavailable to me, ultimately enabling me to build a portfolio of industry-standard work. 

How has your experience been studying in London? 

London offers a large network of professionals in my chosen field, making studying here an obvious choice. Studying at the Harrow campus created a sense of community amongst other creatives and the creative world, giving me the freedom to explore my ideas while also being able to easily access directors, producers, labels, agencies, and other creative professionals via public transportation. 

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course? 

The range of modules allows you to expand your knowledge and skillset while also giving you the freedom to delve deeper into specific topics during your final projects. The course provides you with practical skills that can be applied across various industries. I was creative, developed in my chosen areas, and discovered new learning paths. 

How have you found academic support as part of your studies? 

The lecturers encourage collaboration with other courses, allowing you to experience different perspectives and explore areas where your expertise could be applied. They also help you navigate challenging deadlines and offer industry advice. 

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course? 

The studios, equipment, and other facilities were among the main reasons I wanted to study at Westminster, and they did not disappoint. I was able to film, edit, direct, and produce a documentary as part of my final project, which went on to win multiple small film festival awards – This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the state-of-the-art facilities provided. I also took full advantage of the immersive audio labs—my tip is to book D-9 as often as you can; it's a fantastic resource! 

Tell us about any activities you have undertaken outside your course. 

During the holidays, I completed an internship at a Global Music Management company which was an invaluable experience. I also used my free time to network with industry professionals, helping me build connections and gain insights into the field. 

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster? 

The course and its facilities are designed to help you develop your skills and advance your career. If you are eager to develop professionally, expand your knowledge, or tackle new challenges alongside like-minded people, Westminster is the place for you. 

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student? 

The best aspect is the freedom to be creative and pursue your chosen goals. You have the opportunity to explore your passions and push the boundaries of your creativity. 

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience? 

The personal development you gain from undertaking a course of this level and standard You do not realise it at the time, but the challenges push you and develop your ability to analyse and think objectively to create your best work.
