Law LLB – 2026
The University of Westminster feels like home from day one. The support here is incredible - whether it’s academic guidance, career advice, or just having someone to talk to, there’s always help when you need it.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
As someone looking to switch careers and become a lawyer, I wanted to immerse myself in London's legal scene. While exploring my options, I came across Westminster Law School - right in the heart of central London, in the City of Westminster, and just steps away from some of the world's most prestigious law firms! It felt like the perfect place to be, surrounded by the energy and opportunities that could shape my future.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Coming from a small town like Tumakuru in India, moving to London was like stepping into a whole new world - a city that feels like a global hub. I never imagined I’d be studying law in one of the most dynamic and exciting places out there. Every day brings something new, whether it's walking past iconic landmarks, meeting people from different backgrounds, or attending networking events with top legal professionals. Being so close to the heart of the legal world has been incredibly inspiring and has boosted my confidence in pursuing my dreams. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m excited for what’s next!
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
I’m studying Law LLB, a qualifying law degree accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board of England and Wales. As an aspiring solicitor, this degree lays a strong foundation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and prepares me for a career in law.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The academic support at Westminster has been fantastic. Beyond the structured curriculum, I’ve been encouraged to gain hands-on experience, which has helped me develop the skills I’ll need for my future career. My ultimate goal is to start a non-profit legal solutions organisation, KLEAD (Knowledge in Law, Ethical Advocacy, and Diversity), providing free legal support to individuals and small businesses while promoting ethical advocacy and inclusivity.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
One of the best things about this course is how well it combines theory with practical experience. The Legal Advice Clinic gives us hands-on training in real legal scenarios, while mooting competitions and networking events provide fantastic opportunities to develop advocacy skills and connect with professionals in the field.
Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service
I struggled a bit with my applications at first, but the Careers and Employability Service has been brilliant. They’ve helped me refine my CV, provided feedback on my applications, and even offered mock interviews to boost my confidence. I’m also part of a mentorship scheme, where I’m being mentored by a solicitor who is a partner at a law firm - an invaluable experience!
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course
I’ve been actively involved in student-led societies, including ELSA Westminster, where I served as a committee member and Vice President of Marketing, and Westminster Law Society, where I worked as Social Media Manager. These roles have helped me build connections and develop key professional skills. I also took part in the Westminster Entrepreneurial Network (WE Network), which is a fantastic initiative supporting future business leaders. The masterclasses, funding opportunities, and mentorship for budding entrepreneurs make it one of the university’s standout offerings.
