Tourism and Events Management – 2024

The best aspects of being a student at Westminster include the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds, the promising job prospects, and the privilege of learning from industry professionals.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster because it offers a wealth of opportunities for students both during their studies and after graduation. The university has numerous sports clubs and societies to match your hobbies, as well as a multitude of job prospects and internships. Additionally, the university's Central London location is incredibly convenient for international students like me, providing easy access to campus and exploration of London.

How has your experience been studying in London?

One of the aspects I enjoy the most is the focus on practical learning and real-world experiences on our course. We frequently go on trips to various venues and destinations across the UK, which allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the tourism and events industry. Furthermore, our academic tutors, who have extensive backgrounds in related industries, often share their valuable insights and experiences with us.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The teaching staff has been incredibly supportive in various ways. I regularly meet with my personal tutor to discuss my academic progress and gain valuable insights into job experiences.

Have you used the University Careers and Employability Service? If yes tell us about your experience

I'm currently applying for a placement year with the assistance of my University college (College of Design, Creative and Digital Industries, DCDI). The DCDI team have been consistent in guiding me through the application process, providing feedback on my CV and cover letters, and checking in on my progress. Moreover, the University Careers and Employability Service offers a wide range of job opportunities, which I have utilised to apply for part-time jobs and internships.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

The University of Westminster offers a diverse array of societies and clubs for students. Personally, I've joined the yoga club and subscribed to the gym on the Regent Street campus. Participating in these clubs and societies has not only allowed me to pursue my interests but has also enabled me to connect with people from various cultural backgrounds.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

I would highly recommend visiting the campuses during open days and engaging with current students and graduates to gain firsthand insights into the university experience.
