History and Politics BA – 2025
Looking back, I can see how much I’ve developed in confidence and skills, from my coursework to my leadership roles in societies. Westminster has truly prepared me for the next steps in my career, and I’m grateful for the experiences and support I’ve had along the way.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
When researching universities, I wanted a programme that combined both history and politics while allowing me to explore different aspects of these fields. Westminster stood out because of its interdisciplinary approach and its central London location, which provided access to archives, museums, and institutions relevant to my studies. The University’s focus on practical applications, including opportunities for internships and industry experience, made it the perfect choice.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Studying in London has been an incredible experience. The city itself is an extension of the classroom - whether I’m visiting the British Museum, attending historical lectures, or exploring political institutions, there’s always something to learn. London’s diversity has also enriched my experience, allowing me to meet people from different backgrounds and engage in meaningful discussions.
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
One of the things I loved most about my course was the variety of choices I had when selecting my modules. This flexibility allowed me to explore a wide range of topics, from international history and politics to British history and governance. As a result, I’ve gained a well-rounded understanding of both global and national perspectives, making my degree relevant not just within the UK but also internationally. This balance has given me a unique perspective and the ability to approach historical and political issues from multiple angles.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The lecturers at Westminster have been incredibly supportive, offering valuable feedback and guidance throughout my studies. Their passion for their subjects is contagious, and they encourage students to think independently. The support during my final year was particularly amazing, especially with the one-to-one supervision provided for my dissertation. Having a dedicated supervisor to guide me through the research process, offer detailed feedback, and help refine my ideas made a huge difference in my academic journey.

Beyond my studies, I’ve been actively involved in societies and volunteering. I am the Vice President of the History Society and the President of the Harry Potter Society, which have allowed me to organise events, connect with like-minded students, and develop leadership skills.
I’ve also taken part in volunteering opportunities that I found through the university. I worked as a visitor experience volunteer at the National Portrait Gallery, where I engaged with the public and contributed to making history more accessible. Additionally, I volunteered with Literacy Pirates, helping young students improve their reading and writing skills. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding and have allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in real-world settings while giving back to the community
