Although I am in a different country, I don't feel like a stranger here. I feel welcomed by everyone, including the academic and non-academic staff.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
I have always loved studying in London because of the great exposure and opportunities it offers. This propelled me to choose the University of Westminster, which is in the heart of Central London. Moreover, studying at the University of Westminster was a well-thought-out choice for me, considering the University's student diversity rate, supportive learning environment, and variety of flexible learning schedules. I wanted a school rich in diversity, and I found the University of Westminster to be the most diverse University in London.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Despite the high cost of living in London, I found it immensely valuable to study in one of the world’s major global cities. The experience was worthwhile and enriching as I got to see and appreciate the business hubs, vibrant culture, magnificent landmarks, and extensive transport system. Studying in London provided ample opportunities for improving my communication skills. Interacting with local residents in their natural settings required me to refine my verbal and non-verbal communication abilities. This enhancement was particularly beneficial in academic and professional settings.
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
With utmost delight, am glad I chose MA Management. I particularly enjoyed how the curriculum was tailored to give students a balanced perspective and a better understanding of pertinent issues in the global business environment. I also enjoyed the student residential weekend outing organised by the department for the Leadership in Effective Organization module. I learned how to work effectively in diverse teams and leverage individual strengths to achieve common goals. Personally, this residential outing was a transformative experience, providing me with opportunities to step out of my comfort zone and take on leadership roles in various activities.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The academic/lecturer’s support throughout my studies has been exceptional. They have consistently demonstrated a keen interest in my understanding and ability to apply the knowledge gained in the real world. I am pleased to share that I have achieved an outstanding result, a significant portion of which can be attributed to the unwavering and passionate support I received from my lecturers. The lecturers have shown a genuine interest in my progress and have provided encouragement and motivation at every step. This has significantly boosted my confidence and drive to perform better academically.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
MA Management offers access to industry-standard software like NVivo and SPSS. This provides students with practical experience using tools commonly employed in the field.
Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service
I benefitted from the University Careers and Employability Service. I was able to review my CV with the help of the experts, and this experience was productive for me. The feedback was healthy and helpful.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course
I actively participated in the management residential weekend trip to Surrey in October 2023. I also played a key role as a co-creator in organising the HRM symposium for MA management students in February 2024. Through my active participation in these initiatives, I showcased leadership, teamwork, and a proactive approach to enhancing the academic experience for staff and students. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as a student partner, and going forward, I hope to inculcate all the valuable skills I have learned in my professional and personal endeavours.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
The University of Westminster is an excellent place for anyone seeking quality education in a friendly, supportive, and diverse environment. The university offers many flexible options that are convenient for students' learning and seeks to ensure they are well integrated into the system.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
The feeling of studying in the heart of London triggers excitement and instils confidence and professionalism in me. I am conscious that my classroom extends beyond the walls of the university, and I have access to everything that London has to offer.
What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
I met students from different nationalities that I had not heard of. This is so interesting.
