On 25 March, over 200 Westminster students, colleagues and recent graduates joined alumnus Henry Strong for the final What it Takes webinar of the academic year, titled What it Takes to Work Creatively with AI. The event was organised by the University’s Alumni Relations Office to provide insight into the challenges and advantages of working with AI.

Henry graduated from the University of Westminster in 2007 with a Master’s in Computer Imaging in Architecture, following his Architectural Design BSc Honours degree in 2004. As the Global Head of 3D Animation and AI at Animated Storyboards, the world’s largest animatic company, Henry shared first-hand expertise into the use of AI in the creative industries and its impact on future jobs.

Following the talk, attendees had the opportunity to ask Henry questions in a Q&A session hosted by Professor Gunter Saunders, Associate Director for Digital Engagement and Libraries at the University of Westminster. Professor Saunders recently developed the University’s strategy for Generative AI for teaching, learning and workshops and previously hosted a careers panel event on What it Takes to Unlock the Potential of AI.

About the event, one Westminster student said: “The best webinar I’ve been to in this academic year. I learnt so much from Henry in a short period of time.”

An alumnus added: “I really enjoyed the webinar and I learnt a lot, and I appreciate that my questions got answered as well.”

Mary Dent, Alumni Relations and Events Administrator at the University of Westminster, said: “Henry’s talk on working creatively with AI was both informative and practical. He shared with the audience real-world examples from his own career, highlighting the ways AI can be used to enhance creativity and drive innovation. During the Q&A, Henry shared helpful tips and offered valuable insights for attendees to apply into their own work. Henry’s session inspired both alumni and students to explore the creative potential of AI.”

The What it Takes event series features exciting and innovative alumni speakers sharing their experience and advice on a range of topics, including employability and personal and professional development.
