Westminster students gain business management insights at latest What Comes Next? event

The University of Westminster has hosted its fourth panel event of the academic year in its What Comes Next? (WCN) series. Taking place at the University’s Marylebone Campus, the session gave Business Management BA Honours students the chance to learn about post-graduation opportunities, work placement year experiences, industry insights and practical advice on life after graduation.

The event took place on 19 November and was organised in partnership with the Alumni Engagement Team, Westminster Enterprise Network (WeNetwork), Dr Setenay Dilek Fidler, Deputy Course Leader of Business Management BA Honours, and Evgeniya Macleod, Director of Teaching, Learning and Quality. It was chaired by Westminster Business School Director of Employability and Senior Lecturer Nicholas Sanders.

During the event a panel of Westminster alumni and industry experts shared their post-graduation and work placement year experiences, insights into career pathways and practical advice for navigating life after university. Attendees then participated in a social networking session where students could speak directly with the alumni guests and ask them specific questions.

The WCN programme was introduced as a course-aligned event series in 2021 aimed at sharing the knowledge of recent graduates with current students by inviting them back to speak at the University. WCN events provide students with the opportunity to learn about the career options available to them after graduation and network with alumni in a relaxed, familiar environment.

About the event one student commented: “The speakers motivated me more to follow my goals and never give up and make the most out of university.’’

Another added: “It was useful to hear honest experiences about the career paths of post-graduates.’’

James Huke, Alumni Relations Officer at the University of Westminster, added: “A massive thank you to our panel for dedicating their time and sharing their wisdom. Your experiences are invaluable and your willingness to give back exemplifies Westminster values and makes a huge difference to our students’ journeys.’’

Westminster’s WCN programme contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education and 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
