As part of the new exchange agreement, students based at Hanoi University (HANU) will be able to study for a semester or full academic year at Westminster’s Marylebone Campus. Westminster Business School students based in London will also be able to go abroad to study in Vietnam’s capital city.

As well as the signing ceremony, there was an opportunity for further discussions towards a progression agreement, whereby HANU students would have the opportunity to spend the final year of their studies in London.

HANU is one of the oldest institutions in the capital city, situated only 30 minutes away from the old quarter of Hanoi. The University proudly claims itself as a multi-cultural environment, strongly committed to internationalisation and with a student-centred institutional development strategy.

During the visit, Dr Katalin Illes, Associate Head of College (External Relations), signed the agreement on behalf of the University of Westminster. Speaking about the occasion, Dr Illes said: “Hanoi University and the University of Westminster share a common commitment to internationalisation. This agreement marks an important step towards advancing this joint goal.”

Dr Karen Jackson, Director of International Development for Westminster Business School, also joined the signing ceremony. Speaking about the agreement, Dr Jackson added: “This new agreement with HANU opens up an opportunity for Westminster Business School students to study in Vietnam. Hanoi is an exciting city. For a student looking to experience a new culture, this is a wonderful opportunity to do so in a supported environment that is welcoming to international students.”

Dr Nguyen Van Trao, President of Hanoi University, said: "Hanoi University, Vietnam and the University of Westminster have established a close partnership since 2005. In April 2023, the two universities officially signed the student exchange agreement and continued the discussion on the progression agreement. The scope of cooperation within the new agreement will be expanded for students at the Faculty of International Studies and the Faculty of Management and Tourism. I do hope the partnership between the two universities will serve as a flagship one in the internationalisation efforts of Hanoi University."
