Konthorn graduated with a Fashion Design BA Honours degree from Westminster earlier this year and designed his award-winning graduate showcase for his final year project.

Titled Memory of Places, the project captures the essence of Konthorn’s journey from childhood and uses references and designs to create a powerful representation of life-changing moments through his clothing. The high-contrast pieces in his collection were inspired by the work of Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama, which created a unique style when combined with Konthorn’s own memories and East-West life experience.

The GCGS is an annual initiative in collaboration with Coloro, an innovative colour system that supports brands, retailers and their supply chains, and trend forecasting company WGSN. The initiative is open to all Art and Design students from across the world and saw over 5,000 graduates from the class of 2024 upload their end of year projects, creating a showcase of worldwide graduating creatives. Entries were then shortlisted into four categories: Fashion, Accessories and Textiles; Digital, Visual Comms and Film; Product, Architecture and Interiors; and Fine Art, Photography and Craft/Jewellery. Konthorn’s end of year project jointly won the Casual/Streetwear award as part of the Fashion category.

Rina Tollio, judge of the GCGS Fashion category and Creative Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding Manager at the luxury brands company OTB, described Konthorn’s collection as “modern, fresh, up to date and wearable with a twist”.

On winning the award, Konthorn said: “I was thrilled to win this award from the Global Creative Graduate Showcase for the final project of my Fashion Design BA degree at Westminster, especially as this was such a personal collection reflecting my life journey so far. The University helped me learn the skills to make my vision into a reality and I can’t wait to continue my journey in the Fashion industry now I have graduated!”
