Westminster Graduate School introduces innovative app for doctoral researchers to book training sessions and track personal development

The University of Westminster’s Graduate School has launched the Inkpath training app which allows doctoral researchers to book training sessions and keep track of their training activities all in one place.

Graduate students sit in a lecture theatre on their laptops.

The Inkpath app allows Westminster doctoral researchers to clearly track and plan their development by recording all training and personal development activities in one place. This can include Doctoral Research Development Programme (DRDP) workshops, internal and external training and various other activities such as conferences, publications, exhibitions, film screenings, curated projects and talks that will all contribute to their Inkpath portfolio.

Westminster’s Graduate School recognises training as an integral part of the doctoral education experience and champions access to quality development opportunities through its DRDP programme. This innovative programme promotes research integrity, public engagement and career development based on the national Vitae Research Development Framework and consists of tailor-made workshops, specialist skills sessions and personal development planning activities designed to develop researchers’ skills, experience and confidence.

Doctoral researchers will be able to undertake training sessions in the University’s new dedicated space for graduate training workshops, in addition to the Graduate School study and social space. Based in the heart of London at Westminster’s Regent Campus, the Graduate School training space is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to allow doctoral researchers to experience the latest innovative and world-leading training workshops.

Dr Margherita Sprio, Head of the University of Westminster Graduate School, said: “Inkpath is our new app which captures all doctoral training needs. It is a robust, dynamic platform that helps to engage researchers, capturing rich data about their training activities within and beyond our University. Used by many other universities and research councils, such as the AHRC, Inkpath is an innovative way of capturing all doctoral training experiences within a single app platform.”

Westminster’s Graduate School contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
