Mariella Springford, Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management BSc graduate, was recently named winner of the Constructor’s Prize from Arthur Seymour, Master of the Worshipful Company of Constructors.
The Worshipful Company of Constructors is a City of London livery company for professionals working in and supporting the construction industry. In association with the University of Westminster, they award the highest performing students in the final year of their degree for excellent performances in their studies.
Mariella Springford graduated from Westminster in June 2021 with a First-Class Honours Degree and top of her year group with an average final year mark of 82%. Whilst completing her studies, she was also working as an Assistant QS for Bowmer and Kirkland, a leading UK construction and development company, who sponsored her course.
She was presented with the prize by Arthur Seymour, who is the current Master, at a black-tie dinner at Haberdashers’ Hall in Smithfield. The prize included a cheque for £750 and a ticket for the dinner.
Being employed within the construction sector is another important criterion for receiving the prestigious award. Mariella now works as part of a team to deliver a £50 million development in Bristol.
Jane Wright, Head of the Department of Applied Management, commented on this award: “The University of Westminster is honoured to be able to nominate a high performing graduate for this award. This is a great opportunity for both family and industry colleagues to celebrate Mariella’s many achievements and to network with others. Congratulations Mariella!”
