Westminster Business School hosts successful conference on latest project management trends

Organised by the Westminster Business School, a conference called Building the Bridge: Latest Trends in Project Management took place at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus on 27 June.

It was held in partnership with seven of the top project management bodies, including the Agile Business Consortium, the Association for Project Management (APM), APMG International, The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), PeopleCert, Project Management Institute United Kingdom (PMI) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). 

Westminster Business School welcomed over 90 attendees made up of students, local business representatives, project management professionals, previous candidates of our short course and Westminster alumni. All came together to discuss the latest trends in project management and attend presentations such as on the importance of power skills in project management and the conditions needed for project success. 

The agenda included keynote speeches from Professors Edie Obeng and Nicholas Dacre, as well as four masterclasses from specialists from the Project Management Institute, PeopleCert, APMG International and the University of Sussex.   

Commenting on the event, Dr Phillip McGowan, Assistant Head of the School of Applied Management of the Westminster Business School, said: “It was fantastic to see so many businesses and professional accreditation bodies exchanging latest trends and techniques with our students and alumni. The caliber of speakers and knowledge exchanged really added value to the event.” 

As a follow-up to this successful event, the Westminster Business School is planning to make the event recurring and to host the next event on 25 June 2024.
