The winner will be announced at The Midland Hotel, Manchester on 15 November.

Apprenticeships at Westminster combine academic study, practical experience and wider employment skills to prepare students for career success in their chosen industry. Westminster offers a range of higher and degree apprenticeships at undergraduate and postgraduate level which support various sectors, including construction, planning and healthcare.

About his time at Westminster, James said: “Undertaking my apprenticeship at the University of Westminster was a fantastic experience. The world of construction and the wider built environment is extensive and was daunting to someone with no previous experience.  However, the structured programme offered by Westminster was great in smoothing that transition and gave me a good springboard to start applying the knowledge I learnt in the lecture hall to the real world. The blend of technical teaching and work-based teaching also set me in good stead for when I came across a similar process in the workplace.”

Kai Zs, Business Development Manager at the University, said: “Having met with James and his workplace mentor at the Rider Levett Bucknall offices during the early stages of the apprenticeship, it was already apparent that James was a capable and motivated apprentice. It comes as no surprise that James has developed into a highly valuable member of staff at his organisation. He deserves all of the accolades he is receiving and we look forward to following James’ professional journey as he completes his apprenticeship and beyond.”

Westminster apprenticeships contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
