The University of Westminster has rounded up this academic year’s What Comes Next? (WCN) series with three panel events for students across a range of courses. Each event welcomed back alumni who gave current students the opportunity to gain industry knowledge and receive practical advice on life after graduation.

The month’s first WCN event took place on 5 March for Criminology and Sociology students. The panel was made up of three former students, Kelsea Costin, Maruša Pinter and Sabina Khatun, and was hosted by Dr Lea Sitkin, Senior Lecturer and Deputy Course Leader for Westminster’s Criminology BSc Honours programme. Each panellist shared their own experiences of life after Westminster and gave students valuable career advice.
About the event Sociology BA Honours student Maria Tskhovrebova said: “I really enjoyed hearing the speakers’ personal experiences.”
This was followed by a panel event on 11 March for Pharmacology and Physiology BSc Honours students, chaired by Course Leader and Senior Lecturer Dr Christopher Biggs. Alumni panellists Laima Tokhi, Liza Kovacs and Michael Ebose provided industry insights and practical advice for students taking the next steps after their undergraduate degrees.
A student at the event commented: “Hearing about all their experiences was very helpful and really helped me to understand the different opportunities available to me.”

WCN Pharmacology and Physiology panel
The final WCN event of the academic year took place on 19 March for Biomedical Science BSc Honours students and was chaired by Co-Course Leader and Senior Lecturer Dr Lorna Tinworth and Senior Lecturer in Chemical Pathology Dr David Gaze. The panel featured alumni speakers Inah Rosales, Joelraj Soundrapandian and Tinotenda Rwodzi, who offered tailored advice on what it takes to succeed after completing a Biomedical Science degree.
Anisa Maliha Tasnim, Biomedical Sciences BSc Honours student, shared: “I just wanted to say thank you to the speakers for sharing your insights! Your experiences and advice were incredibly useful and really helped me understand the different paths available in Biomedical Science. I appreciate the time you took to answer our questions and provide guidance. Looking forward to applying what I've learned!”
She added: “I found the event really useful because it provided firsthand insights from Westminster graduates, which can help guide our career paths in Biomedical Science. Hearing their experiences and advice can be motivating and informative, especially since they’ve been in our shoes.”

WCN Biomedical Science panel
WCN is a course-aligned event series designed to share the knowledge and experience of recent graduates with current students, providing insight into life after Westminster and giving them a better understanding of the opportunities open to university graduates.
About the series Westminster Alumni Relations Officer David Brooks said: “It has been fantastic to work with academic colleagues to bring alumni back to the classroom. Our alumni have been so generous in sharing their own experiences and advice to help our students succeed in their careers after graduation. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from students shows how valuable they find the opportunity to learn from alumni who have been in their shoes only a few years ago. These three events have been a great way to finish our What Comes Next? series for the current academic year. Thank you to our alumni for making the series possible!”
These events directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
