The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition celebrates contemporary drawing practices through showcasing original artworks from emerging, mid-career and established artists. The open exhibition provides space for drawing practitioners to present their work alongside other leading artists and makers in the field. The exhibition is launched each year with the awards announced in London before going on a tour in the UK. The programme includes drawing sessions and discussions delivered by drawing practitioners and experts online and in person.

For the 2022 competition and exhibition, the Prize received over 3,200 submissions from 1,617 drawing practitioners coming from 45 countries. The judging panel, Lucy Byatt, Danie Mellor and Isabel Seligman selected a shortlist of 113 drawings by 94 artists for the exhibition.

Talking about her art piece, Liam said: “As an architect and artist, drawing is an important part of my practice for both working out and representing ideas. With my drawing ‘Taking Out the Trash,' I wanted to treat items that might be considered as dirty or disgusting as beautiful objects that could be the subject matter of a work of art, whilst reflecting on the waste we produce in our day to day lives. I’m thrilled to be shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Drawing Prize 2022 as it is an amazing opportunity to share my work alongside exciting contemporary artists.”
