The University’s Alumni Relations Office have sent out their annual Season’s Greetings e-card, to wish all alumni a happy holiday season.

Still from Seasons Greetings animation for Alumni Team e-card

This year’s Season’s Greetings e-card includes a short animation created by Westminster student Adel Szegedi who studies on the Contemporary Media Practice BA Honours course. The animation features an enchanted forest, with animal characters decorating trees, and encourages alumni to ‘enjoy the simple things’ this festive season.

In 2020, the Alumni Team’s e-card featured a compilation of colleagues, students and alumni talking about what they love most about the holidays, and signified how the Westminster community stayed connected during the global COVID-19 pandemic despite being physically apart.

Each year the University’s Alumni Relations Team take the opportunity to thank alumni for their ongoing support with the e-card. Westminster has around 200,000 alumni, many of whom dedicate their time to mentor, deliver career talks or give generously to support students’ development. The Season’s Greetings e-card is one way that the University recognises and thanks these individuals for their dedication.

Speaking about the animation, Adel said: “It was a great honor to create a holiday greeting card for the University's community, and I was aiming to approach the true meaning of the holidays from a slightly different perspective. My intention was to guide the viewer through a magical place where one of the most important aspects of this festive season can be emphasized: the presence and importance of light.

“While the little balls of light surround the enchanted forest, two fairy-tale characters also take part in their light-dance. The symbolism of this story is as simple as it is meaningful; by turning to others with kindness, patience, understanding and love, it removes all differences between people and sheds light on the fact that deep down, we are all the same who seek the light in their lives.”

Speaking about the e-card, Alyssa Martin, Interim Head of Alumni Relations at the University of Westminster, said: “As 2021 comes to an end, I’m delighted we are able to wish all of our alumni a very warm season’s greetings with this annual video created by a Westminster student. We are grateful to all of our graduates and partners who continue to support the ambitious and exciting projects running across the University and look forward to engaging with even more alumni next year.”
