Following on from successful hybrid exhibitions, OPEN 2022 is the School’s first physical exhibition in four years and showcases Westminster students’ projects from a range of courses including Architecture BA, Designing Cities BA, Interior Architecture BA, Architectural Technology BSc, Master of Architecture (RIBA Pt II) and Architecture and Environmental Design MSc.

The exhibition launch was opened by architect Kate Macintosh MBE at Westminster’s Marylebone Campus and was open for both in-person attendees and those who wished to attend online. The physical exhibition is also supported by an open-ended online iteration.

Speaking about the exhibition, Grace Lancto, a third-year Architecture and Environmental Design student, said: “I am excited to see all of the projects from the Architecture students showcased and celebrated through the exhibition. Both students and staff put a lot of effort into each exhibition, and it shows the strong sense of community that is held at Westminster.”

Thomas Rowntree, an Architecture MArch (RIBA Part 2) student, added: “It’s an exciting and inspiring moment to see an entire year’s work on display after eight months of work and it’s great that we can have external people experience that too. It is also an opportunity to professionally display and discuss our projects with people that may be new to our work.”

OPEN 2022 forms part of the London Festival of Architecture (LFA), a month-long celebration of architecture and city-making, which takes place across London every June. The festival’s mission is to open discussions around architecture, test new ideas and uncover and promote new talent.

The School of Architecture + Cities has been running a number of exciting events taking place in and around campus in response to the LFA’s theme of ‘Act’, including ‘Tourism and/in the Metropolis: A Global act’ which took place on 10 June, ‘Speaking Architect/ure’ on 17 June and ‘Architecture Acts: A Climate Performance in Three Parts’ on 24 June.
