Eid al-Fitr, or Festival of Breaking the Fast, is a religious celebration observed by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the month-long dawn to sunset observance of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

Eid al-Fitr is usually marked by attending a morning prayer in one’s finest clothes, and it can last for up to three days, or an entire month depending on different cultures and countries.

Subject to confirmation by local moon sighting, Eid al-Fitr 2022 in the UK has been calculated to begin at sunset on Sunday 1 May, however some Muslims began the month a day later and may follow other timings.
