For its 2023 competition and exhibition, the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize received 3,000 submissions from 1,450 drawing practitioners, located across the world. After deliberation, the judging panel selected a shortlist of 102 drawings by 96 artists and makers for the exhibition, with awards and prizes ranging from £2,000 to £10,000.

Westminster’s shortlisted artists who will showcase their work at the exhibition are Illustration BA Honours alumnus Akash Bhatt, Interactive Multimedia MSc alumna Jade Chorkularb and Art and Art and Visual Culture MA student Gail Seres-Woolfson.

The judges were made up of Laura Hoptman, Executive Director of The Drawing Centre, New York; Dennis Scholl AM, Collector, Arts Patron, President and CEO of Oolite Arts, and Barbara Walker MBE RA, British Artist and Turner Prize-nominated artist.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize was founded in 1994 by artist and Professor, Anita Taylor, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee. The annual Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize celebrates talent and excellence in current drawing practice. The exhibition provides a platform for artists, designers, makers and other drawing practitioners, acting as a catalyst within their careers and championing the role, breadth, and value of drawing in creative practice today. It is supported by the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust and 2023 marks the sixth year of their support for the annual open exhibition.

All of the award-winning and shortlisted works will be available to see in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 exhibition which will run from 29 September to 15 October at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London and is free to the public.
