The University of Westminster wishes a very happy thanksgiving to all of our students, colleagues, alumni and friends who are celebrating today.
Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is traditionally celebrated in the USA on the fourth Thursday in November, falling on Thursday 24 November in 2022.
The holiday is also celebrated on various dates in various other countries including Canada, Granada, St Lucia, and Liberia. It commemorates a time in 1621, when the English colonists, known as the ‘Pilgrims’, are thought to have shared a feast with the Wampanoag Native Americans, who had helped them survive their first winter in North America.
