The University of Westminster wishes our community a very happy Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year is the annual festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar. The calendar is traditionally used in a number of Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, Singapore and South Korea, and is classed as one of the most important celebrations of the year.

The annual celebration corresponds with a different animal from the Chinese zodiac, which consists of 12 different animals, cycling through over 12 years. 2022 marks the Year of the Tiger, and tigers are thought to symbolise bravery, confidence and strength. This year, Lunar New Year begins on 1 February 2022.
