The University of Westminster joins the nation to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day and #LightTheDarkness

The University of Westminster joins the nation to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, which this year falls on the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Holocaust Memorial Day is a day to remember those who lost their lives for who they were and to stand against prejudice and hatred.

The theme of this year's event is 'One Day', where everyone can pause and reflect on those who suffered in the Holocaust and other genocides, and show their support for a peaceful and tolerant society. They can share their thoughts and 'Light the Darkness' by lighting a candle and safely putting it in the window remember those who lost their lives and stand against prejudice and hatred.

Each year across the UK on Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of people come together to learn more about the past and take action to create a safer future.
