World AIDS Day, which has taken place on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic which was caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.

The University of Westminster is pleased to support World AIDS Day. The education sector is central to tackling the ignorance and hostility that still too often surrounds this dreadful condition and World AIDS Day is an opportunity to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.

In a country where people with HIV/AIDS are still often stigmatised, at the University of Westminster we recognise the importance to show our solidarity and support for them.
