On 9 March, 25 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the School of Computer Science and Engineering visited Netcompany, a Danish IT and Business Consultancy company with offices in Denmark and London.
Netcompany is an IT services company that delivers business-critical strategic IT projects which accelerate customers’ digital transformation through digital platforms, core systems and infrastructure services. They serve a wide array of customers in their digital transformation journeys, including public and private sectors across Europe.
They also ensure to harness the power of digitalisation to help businesses and societies succeed in the digital age, ensuring to build the framework for a just, sustainable future and success in a digital world.
The purpose of the students’ visit was to gain an insight into the world of Software Developers and Engineers, as well as to find out more information on the opportunities that Netcompany offers.
The field trip took place in the afternoon, offering the opportunity for the students and representatives of Netcompany to interact with one another. The students also attended talks from two senior managers at Netcompany, the CEO and a CTO, who explained the company’s aims and work, as well as giving insight into the different kinds of projects that the company has been delivering for its clients.
The students then participated in a panel session with the company’s Software Developers and Engineers, who offered insight into the job and role of a graduate at the company. In another panel session, the students received tips from the company’s recruitment team on how to make their job applications a success.
Then, the students had a tour of the company and facilities. The event came to an end with a networking session, where company employers shared their experience with the students over food and drink.
Huseyin Dagdeviren, Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, commented on the field trip: “I think the visit to Netcompany has been very useful to students. Not only they met recent graduates who are working as IT professionals and found out about their career journey and what they do in their jobs, but they also had the opportunity to see the big picture which is what IT consultancy companies like Netcompany do and how they operate. I am sure the insight they gained from the trip will be useful in their own transition into graduate employment.”
